Just 7% of the population attend independent schools, but the percentage of Vice-Chancellors who attended such schools is 24%; 32% of MPs did the same; as did 52% of the “top Medics”; and 54% of the “top Journalists” – and 54% is the same percentage of the FTSE 100 Chief Executive Officers who attended independent schools; as did 62% of members of the House of Lords; and 68% of “top Barristers” and 70% of High Court Judges.
